Runners can expect heat, hills and breathtaking scenery. The only ultra-marathon in the Caribbean, Tortola Torture takes runners around the mountainous island of Tortola, the capital of the BVI. With amazing views, scenes and comraderie, it should be on any ultra-marathon runners to do list.
The marathon’s course is 33.74 miles (54km) with only 22% (7.5 miles) on flat and the rest on the hillsides, with a gradient change of 12,000 feet. The steepest gradient is 33.33%. There is 6,587 feet of climbing over 12.8miles and 13.1 miles of descent.
Tortola Torture starts in the capital Road Town and goes clockwise around the island; along the stunning coastline and through the communities. The ultra-marathon is open to individuals and 2- and 3-person relay teams. Click here to register to be a part of this one of a kind running competition.
